Vance Breese, much like Eddie Allen, was a freelance engineering test pilot from the mid-1930s to early-1940s. In this capacity he made the first flights on a number of important aircraft. These included the Northrop N-3PB for Norway on 12/22/40; the Northrop XP-61 Black Widow on 5/26/42; the Vultee P-66 Vanguard on 9/8/39; the North American B-25 Mitchell on 8/19/40; and North American NA-73X (forerunner of the Mustang series of aircraft) on 10/26/40. Has anyone ever seen a middle name for Mr. Breese? -SP

It would appear he didn't have one... And if he did, he never used it and no publication ever refered to it.

How about Jack 'Jackie' Jackson of Boeing. He conducted first flights in Harrier AV8C and night attack variant.
