Hi everyone. This is my first post on this great site. Thanks to all of you for such a great information source and effort.
Now, I have a question about a Royal Navy, in an alternative history world where the French fared better in Seven Years War ( and even before, during Louis XIV ).
So, the basic premise is: The French mostly won the 7YW by not loosing it. They had a few big naval victories ( more luck, better weather etc. ) and even a not so sucessful invasion of the England 8 got stalemated in the end ). They kept Canada and Louisiana ( because Louis XIV started larger settlement of New France ), but the British also kept 13 colonies, and even managed to expand it a bit beyond Appalachians. Let's say that the final british line is on Ohio river in the north and Mobile Bay-Tombigbee river- The French also never lost Acadia ( New Scotia ) and got Newfoundland.
France formed dynastic and political/military alliance with Spain ( and most of Italy ), maintained influence in western states of Germany ( basicly from Baden-Wurtemberg to Rheinland ), annexed Belgium and Luxembourg. Her enemies are, Prussia ( mutilated, without anything in the west ), Austria-Hungary ( or whatever happened there ) and Russian Empire. Spain and former Spanish colonies are their major allies ( Spanish colonies mostly got formed under some sort of Commonwealth with a same king, maybe some became even republics ). Turkey/Ottoman Empire is also a major French ally/client ( being used to block Russia from Mediterranean ). Same with Iran.
French colonies in New World are Canada ( up to Ohio and Missouri river ) and Louisianne ( below these rivers ). Later, they are formed in some sort of commonwealth, but French ties are stronger with Canada ( Louisianne has a bit problems with segregation ).
British colonies are formed into an union, that remains tied with Britain, sharing a same king and being much closer than in OTL.
Other British colonies are Bengal area in India ( France got the most of the rest ), North-Western Australia ( France got the rest ), some islands in Carribean and later some African colonies ( mostly OTL ), with notable exception of South Africa ( western part being Dutch- under influence of French ), but British got Natal and Transvaal area and Rhodesias, as in OTL.
Of course, eventually, colonies got their independence both French and British. British allies are: North Germany ( basicly Prussia with Hannover and some smaller states ), Austria-Hungary ( if it survives by this day ) and Russia.
Okay, that's a lot. I know that some will say it's implausible or something similar, but please bear with me.
So, now, my question is- what would be the look of the Royal Navy today?
