I stumbled across this interesting blog by an Australian academic Dr Brett Holman who has researched the cultural impacts of the fear of bombing on British society during the early 20th century.
There are a lot of other interesting British and Australian related aviation entries too.

The great feature of Brett's work is that he takes an academic approach, giving sources and references throughout. Thus if you are unsure of his interpretation you have the opportunity to retrace his footsteps and make your own judgement.
He writes about the period that fascinates me most and I have read his work on many occasions. Generally, but not always, I find I agree with his conclusions. Where I do not it is usually over relatively minor details.
