A DFS Automatically Controlled Glide Bomb.1943

In a study and investigations report E. W. Sponder in ZWB Forschungsbericht Nr. 1819, May 1943.translated and published in NACA August 1950 - TM 1248 - "Investigations of lateral stability of a glide bomb using automatic control having no time lag". This is about a glide bomb design developed in the DFS "Ernst Udet". It is a bomb whose fuselage is made up of an SC-500 bomb dropped from a carrier aircraft; for this purpose, several drop tests were carried out, confirmed by cinematographic recordings of the drops, to gain an overview of the glide bomb's stability and obtain indications for an optimal design.

Hi klem, you will find on this site "https://www.nevingtonwarmuseum.com/algorithmic-designs.html" a picture without source that shows various experimental dfs bombs among them appears the model you post here, it must be the different types of design used during testing to determine as mentioned the optimal design of the bomb because it appears that the body of the SC-500 bomb was retained in all designs.

This glider bomb DFS D II/Pe was developed until August 1941 by DFS and the Heeresversuchsanstalt Peenemünde-Ost. The control device is a electric pneumatic control. Two of this typ glider bombs were troped in July and August 1942.
