a brief history of Mitsubishi Mk9 or Ha-43 : any have some informations about it?
Surely i suppose that this engine was in production during a caoting period of 1944 - 1945 .

Hi! From Japanese wikipedia,
[font=times new roman, serif]Mitsubishi was developing Ha 42 18 cylinder 2,000hp engine for large aircraft based on 14 cylinder Kasei(Mars)engine. But Mitsubishi knew that Nakajima had developing a small high-output Homare engine, and desided to develop new 18 cylinder fighter engine based on smaller Kinsei 14 cylinder engine hurriedly. This engine's in-company name was A20. (A is a meaning of AIR COOLING).
In order to oppose the Homare of Nakajima to precede, Mitsubishi desided following ambitious targets.[/font]
[font=times new roman, serif](1)Weight per horsepower (power-weight ratio) was the smallest in the world.[/font]
[font=times new roman, serif](2)Frontal area per horsepower was the smallest in the world.
(3)Maximum horse power was 2,200hp.[/font]

[font=times new roman, serif](5)No.1 high reliability of the world. [/font]

Moreover, Shinden suffered Ha-43 engine trouble during the test just before the end of the war, Kyushu hikoki had been waiting for arrival of the engineer of Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi was provided with the test data of Homare in Ha 43 development. [/font]

I think the Ha-43 was derived from the Pratt & Whitney Wasp.
