Looks like it was formatted for a Kindle or some such, then exported to PDF.

You may still be able to get all three volumes from NASA for the asking if you like the old fashioned "book". These are great books with much history and engineering goodness, but be warned some of the writing is not for the "engineeringly challenged."

website with no problem.. Because of the time frame of the autogyro's and early helicopters this could also fit into the before 1946 post. If you explore the website you will find a listing of several hundred books put out by NASA AMES. They show up as books, microfich, and some down loadable.

Let me see if I can find the exact data I was given. It is government printing so it ought to be available in print still.
