SSomewhere online I've seen a document from he early-mid 1980s with Royal Navy planned surface ship construction through to the mid-1990s. It had projected order dates for 24 Type 23 frigates, eight AORs, and two more CASTLE class OPVs.

I had a search for something similar on the forum, but found nowt.
The attached photo was taken in a grocer's shop in North Shields, just down the Tyne from Yarrow's warship yard.
Thought someone on the forum could identify them. The upper one looks most interesting.

Displacing 13,200 tons, space for 16 aircraft. 15deg ski jump. For peacetime operations a helicopter operates from the rear deck, in wartime the rear deck would be built up with containers to lengthen the flight deck. Length 604 ft.

Over the years the STOVL ability of the Harrier has led to various proposals for ships for it to operate from.
First was the VT Harrier Carrier concept of the mid-1970s. 8,000 tons, c. 400ft length at WL, 420 ft flight deck with ski-jump.
