In the late-war period a battery of the ill-fated 5cm FlaK 41 was directed by a remote controlled system, overcoming it`s manual traverse problems and testing what would be the Gerät 58 5,5cm control system. Does anyone know about this development?
When browsing Vickers Tyne & Wear Archive I noticed a really intersting and obscure design proposal. Not only by the strangely long barrel, sci-fi look turret (this is a 1946 drawing), but also the insane stats and unique operating mechanism. I also cannot find any information of this proposal...

I was looking for the history of the anti-aircraft guns of the US Army since 1918 but then stumbled upon an AA gun that I never heard of before. A little effort to find some information was done, but it's surprisingly quite scarce.

I am currently researching the history of automatic cannon and their ammunition and would appreciate some help with an obscure German naval AA gun: the 3,7 cm Flak SK C/36. I have put down my thoughts on this almost unknown project as follows:
The evidence in favour of its existence is as...
Japanese Wikipedia entry on Akizuki class DD stated that IJN started in 1936 to study dedicated AA vessels following the example of Dido class. They contemplated anything from a 1000 ton torpedo boat armed with a single 10 cm or 12.7 cm AA gun to a quite large cruiser equipped with 12 double...

It was planned to fit the Iowa class with the 3"/50 but this was abandoned post-war. I once saw online a line drawing that showed the planned layout, it wasn't a straight swap for the quad 40mm mounts due to weight concerns but I have seen one book that states that 15 mounts were planned.
Does...
This is Red Queen, re the website in RP1's post. should it be a new thread?
These pics are I suppose the mock up. I have seen another photo of Red Queen, I think in Ian Hogg's book on AA artillery.
