My dear Flateric,
I found that report about the former hypersonic aircraft (NHFRF),but the company involved in it
with NASA and USAF was Vought !.

The only real chance to have something like Aurora in mid-80's was only an X-24C/NHFRF derivative. If USAF would keep up the X-24C development in mid-70's maybe would have something flying for real about a decade later....

It's the Maneuvering Re-entry Research Vehicle. It was intended to be launched from the Shuttle to explore the hypersonic speed range between NHFRF ("X-24C") and orbital speed. It was to be used in several types of flight patterns, including low angle-of-attack re-entry, high cross-range, etc...
I suppose you are aware of Flateric posts here > https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/us-lifting-bodies-studies-start-asset-prime-fdl-x-24-etc.722/page-3#post-44176

It could very...
...that is a completely brand new vehicle, considering that the general configuration diverges a lot from the original X15 shape.
Perhaps is a NAA proposal of mid-end '60s about some hypersonic vehicle, maybe it could be a contender of the Lockheed-Martin Marietta X24C for the NHFRF proposal....
Well honestly I'd say AAV, ISINGLASS and INCAAPS in terms of looks and roles, considering the X-24C wasn't produced either. But another good addition to the list nonetheless.
Archibald, thank you! You are exactly right. NASA wanted out of the X-24C as they began to pursue other hypersonic concepts, such as Shuttle and NHFRF (except for the folks at Dryden who were interested in testing hardware that was a relatively low risk initiative following the lifting body...
The closest thing to an actual Aurora (that you don't mentioned) is the Lockheed-Martin X-24C NHFRF of the late 70's.

I've added links to various programs already depicted at SPF to make a picture wider.

So, to make a long timeline short, here is what I came up with, in a nutshell:
White X24C
--> White NHFRF
--> Black NHFRF (1980/1982)
--> Black manned prototype platform flown tested in around 1986
--> Black operational M=5/6 SR-71 replacement (ASTRA...
Rockwell International NHFRF proposal D590-8 :
I don't think this is in the US Lifting bodies mega-thread (as far as I can tell, just the related Lockheed L-301 versions.
