Okay Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for the years 1908 and 1909...
You can view these full strips at http://www.barnaclepress.com/ a site I recommend for any fan of obscure old comics. Be warned, though, that some of the material on this site may not be 'work safe.' Not for sexual content but...
You might want to take a look at the POLESTAR H-01 painting on page 21 in that book.
I love the Ford Dealership painting at the bottom of page 64 - too bad it's off topic for this group.
I believe this is the bulkhead you are talking about and it looks to me that running cables or plumbing through it wouldn't be that much of a problem.
And, just for grins, I'm posting the art that was on that bird.
I found this in my scrap files and I'm not sure where it came from as no title or date are presented along the top or bottom margins. The image is part of a full page ad and the ad text reads as follows.
New generation V/STOL coming up
The Bell X-22A Tri-Service V/STOL features a capability...
Re: Re: Burnelli projects
I found these two pages from an old Air Trails magazine (August 1951) in my scrap files. This seemed to be a better place for them than the newer Flying Flattops thread.
At least one of these has been reprinted as a poster. I have a 20 by 27 inch copy of ad-convair 19 "Freedom Has a New Sound." The only change was the addition of Reprinted from Collier's, July 8, 1955 in the Lower corner.
If anyone has a copy of the movie Brainstorm, (I don't) please take a look at it. I think there was an F-19 or other stealth fighter design in that one. They had their Human test subject in a full motion simulator flying the thing while they recorded his mind and you saw a quick CG sequence of...
Ya want patches?
I've got patches!
Most of these were purchased in surplus stores (Sunny's Surplus) back in the 60s. Other collectors I've shown these to agree that these appear to be from WWII or the period just after the war. I'll post the 20th AF patch to show the difference from modern...
There were some bits of humor here and there. A book on the F-86 line - Squadron Signal In Action Series, I believe - contained humorous presentations of information from the F-86D handbook. Then there is that illustration (which I do not have) showing an aircraft carrier being abandoned as a...
It looks that way to me. I haven't found the article yet - and I may not have it as I believe this was one of a handful of poor condition magazines I picked up for the art at a swap-meet several years back.
One little nit to pick. Shouldn't that concept be called Three Stage to Orbit? The 747 is part of the launch process so shouldn't it be counted as a stage?
The best I can make out is M. Alvares. I've attached an enhanced blow-up of the signature for others to give it a try. Doing a quick search of that name brought no aerospace leads - at least in doing an image search.
My guess is that the second image (on orbit) and the 747 comparison image were...
I had thought about replying (to ozmosis) simply 'Good takes time while good enough is quicker.'
I'm in agreement with you Scott, but I'd like to add that there was the good versus good enough option back in the good old days. A 'finished' painting by R. G. Smith, Keith Ferris, Nixon Galloway...
It looks to be an edited shot of a model.
That's a Douglas A3D fuselage with modified tail, wings and engines. I just took a quick look through Ginter's Naval Fighters Number Forty-Five and saw nothing on this modification in there. I doubt that there would be anything in the "Fleet Whales"...
