Perhaps not the strangest Starfighter derivative, but it's up there. The CL-307-1, armed with a nosefull of Sidewinder missiles. Lacked landing gear, as it was meant to be launched and recovered in flight by such craft as the CL-292-6 nuclear-powered turboprop flying DEW line/missile carrier.

Except Boeing microfighters, this is the second most interesting parasite fighter for me. Especially this horizontal tail looks, ehm... lovely ;D

CL-292-6 nuclear-powered turboprop flying DEW line/missile carrier.

could you post a pic of that beast if it's possible ::)

Many thanks in advance!

Then I'll anxious anxious to get my copy ;D

There's data on the picture. Can you read it on the original, or do you have it otherwise, please? Enlarging on a download is too blurred on my computer. I can read some headings, but no figures.

Scott, Giorgio Apostolo is ready to put an advertisement of the Preview (and later of the complete book) on his site and on Aerofan. The same is ok for my bookseller friends in Milan and Turin. When you are ready with the cover, please send me a PDF and I'll distribute around. And my finger is ready on the Paypal button... ;)

Problem. I ran the first test print a couple days ago, just to make sure the drawing quality was right and to run it past some of the graphic artists at work; the drawings are fine, but plain line drawings make for a pretty bland cover.

If the CL-307 had flown and the Cold War turned hot, then the CL-292-6s would have released the CL-307s over the Soviet bloc to shoot down MiGs, La-250, and Su-9/11s in order to keep the CL-292-6s out of harm's way if a CL-292-6 were to take out Soviet military installations like air defense installations.

CL-292-6 was an armed AEW platform, not a bomber. The likely mission was continental air defense against Soviet bombers. The parasite fighters would be there to deal with Soviet escort fighters or chase down bombers or their missiles.
