Rotorcraft Technology Development

As per the article above, I've included the brochure of the AW249 attack helicopter. The article addresses the change in Europe and Korea regarding the need for a pusher propeller design. With retreating blade stall dictating the forward speed of the conventional helicopter the pusher concept is likely the way of the future.

Other than the current crop of advanced rotorcraft (tiltrotor, coaxial compound, compound pusher-prop) are there any other types of reasonable (rotor) technologies that ought be considered in the fast approaching middle of the 21st Century?

Looking at Ukraine I think the flying jeep might be worth revisiting. Small, low flying, quiet and as inexpensive as possible. Think of a R44, K-MAX or MH-6 Little Bird with big wheels ;)

Not meant for high performance, just a way of getting a light load from A to B avoiding predictable routes and obstacles. Near future drone technology might cover such a capability anyway.
