Friends.

know, that in competition participated seventeen firms: 19 proposals.

1) McDonnell Model M-82--------------XV-1
2) Sikorsky Model S-57------------------XV-2
3) Bell Model B-200----------------------XV-3
4) Lockheed TDN Model L-203

Help to find and other projects...

Btw, David Brown gave the designation D200 to the Bell XV-3 in his"The Bell Helicopter Textron Story" instead of B-200. This should be correct.

Hi boxkite.

I think, that should be: Model 200(B-200),
Because, development of model D-188/XF-109, in 1955-1956 years,
and development of Model 200, in 1950-1951 years.
(development of Model D-200 more late, than Model D-188)

Model 200-------------XV-3
Model D-188A--------XF-109
Model D-200--------what scheme or what type of the helicopter or airctraft or ?

Hi,

Was that Piasecki SUP project belong to that competition ?.

I am sure that Martin also entered a design to this competition

Regards
Pioneer

That could be the MArtin 365 model, but I have no other information.

May be the that Vertol convertiplane project was the
proposal for this competition,please see;

Considering that the XV-1, XV-2 and XV-3 appeared in the 1953/54 period (based on their serials), I would not consider a patent dated 1960 as part of that competition. Perhaps this patent is an outgrwoth of the Vertol VZ-2.

Hello All!

The competitor from firm Gyrodyne: Model GCA-5 (or Model GCA-15, as it is written in a picture.Picture on top)

Hi, where there any other tiltrotor-contenders in this competition, apart from the built XV-3 and the (unbuilt) Kellet K-25?

Hi,

for Kellett K-25,it was displayed here;

http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1958/1958%20-%200381.html

And for the Gyrodyne I think it was GCA-32 project.

Thank you Luedo 34,

and I check from GCA-33,it had only two seat and one engine,and the GCA-32
was a convertiplane,but it powered by two engines and had seven seat,also
its rotor diameter 60ft,and for GCA-33 28ft.So I think it's anther project
for this competition,may be GCA-31.
The Goodyear Convo,I think it involved too.

The convertiplane below in the illustration seems to be
an early design sketch of the McDonell XV-1..
Which is the multiwing aircraft ?

Error..
The convertiplane is the Bell design ofcourse..
I'm getting older.. ;D

I think the Vertol VTOL aircraft which was mentioned in this patent,discribe
in this Flightglobal page;

I think we discussed this Vertol design earlier in this set of postings. Timing is wtrong.

I suggest that,

the Convertiplane for Prof.Rutowski from the Wayne University
was involved in this competition,because the tender began in
1951.

In June 1952 Bell presented a mock-up of the Bell 200, what later became the XV-3.
Would anybody have a photo of that mock-up?

The design you're showing, hesham, is the Beechcraft Cascade.
We've got a whole topic on it:

Oh sorry my dear Skyblazer,

we can transfer it to this topic.

Not sure if this goes here: McDonnell XV-1, blueprints are up on Ebay (not sure who's interested, I for one am not bidding. And for clarification, I'm not the seller either): McDonnell-XV-1-Helicopter-blueprint-plans-report-1950s-RARE.jpg
