This sounds like AFVG, except it was dead since five years, by 1972. Dassault however carried on a VG effort with the G, G4 and G8. The latter -01 and -02 prototypes flew in May 1971 and July 1972, respectively.I've seen vague mention of possible BAC and Dassault submissions in 1972.
The Mirage G8-02 would foot that bill very well.
