The fighter version of the M-85, a project of the NASA for the development of the wings O, an evolution of the concept of wings X that looked for on everything to eliminate the problematic vibrations to the moment to stop in flight the rotation of the same ones.

From memory there was some drawings of Fairchild VSTOL proposals in Aeroplane circa 1960 something that were similar in layout? This is from one reading many years ago if anyone knows the details I would be pleased for extra details to jog my memory.

Don't think so. The Grumman tilt-wing is illustrated in a few sources (which I don't have with me). The North American design differs in a number of important areas, from wing planform to vertical stabilizer geometry.

EDIT: found pics.

Each time I see that NASA tilt-wing airliner, I'm struck by the resemblance of its fuselage and empennage to those of the Avro Canada Jetliner.

Was NASA recycling wind tunnel models (one of which survives at TAM) to work on more generic concepts? Or, is it possible that Avro Canada was exploring tilt-wings?

Was NASA recycling wind tunnel models ...

Very likely. Most wind tunnel models are generic shapes; if your goal is basic science regarding some new wing planform or lift engine setup that will *maybe* be applied to an otherwise conventional but as-yet undefined fuselage... you might as well use the parts and pieces that are already lying around.

Thanks for the confirmation. It makes sense to recycle when, as you say, they were working on general layouts.

Attached are two (really bad) images of what I think is the same model modified again. The first shows the horizontal tail moved down (with some flap details visible). The second shows the wing moved to a high position and the horizontal tail returned to the mid position.
