Hi,.I found anther projects of aircraft.do any one know any thing about it,
1-1949 programme for new intercopter: SNCASE SE X-109.
2-1953 ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, :NORD N-1540,NORD N-5010 Harpon,SNCASE SE-
5020,SNCASO SO-6100 Requin,Morane-Saulnier MS-800,SNCASE SE X-218 and the only built were Breguet Br-1002 and Dassault Etendard II;Etendard IV.

3-1956 programme for a COIN aircraft:SNCASO SO-7100 Dogue,Breguet Br-1060,Morane-
Saulnier MS-1600 and the only built SIPA S-1100,Dassault MD-315 B and SNCASE SE X-116.

Let's start with hte SNCASE/SNCASO projects:
- SE. X-218, interceptor
- SE.5020, derivative of the SE.5000 Baroudeur
- SE. X-116 : COIN, contender to the SIPA 1100 and the
- SO.7100 Dogue
- SO.6100, first project, later developed into the SO.6150 and 6160,
contender to the Breguet Taon

AFAIK the most comprehensive source for those aircraft is Cunys
"Les Avions De Combat Francais 1944-60", which was the basis for
these sketches, too.

If you can't get your hands on it, I'll can send you a scan of the a/c
you mentioned.

- SO.1340/1350 were compound helicopters. You can find an article in the AFM No.6 (Aviation Francais Magazine, not Airforces monthly !)
- can't find anything about the SO.E 1910, although I think I' ve heard about it.

I don't know for those programs, but first competitions were for
- a light bomber, in Canberra fashion. NC-270 Vs SO-4000
- a naval fighter Arsenal VG-90, NC-1080, Nord 2200
- and a day fighter : MD-450 Ouragan, SO-6020 Espadon and DH Vampire...
The naval fighter project ended tragically, both Arsenal VG-90 and
NC-1080 crashed, killing 3 pilots (Dellys, Gallay, Decroo). In every case, there was no carrier able to received these fighters, because the PA-28 Clemenceau had been cancelled in 1952!
Bomber program was also a disaster, the SNCAC go bankrupt in 1949 (the NC-1080 and NC-270 with it) the SO-4000 flew only one time on 15th march 1951. It flew like a brick... but paved the way for the SO-4050 Vautour...

I remember this article from September 2002 - fascinating- ! Your drawings impress me even after reading the article various time (this peculiar fana with the Late-631 in cover stay in desk these days).
wonderful drawings!

In 1961 there was a competition for military aircraft use in roles,
such as close-support,reconnaissance,training and transport.
the contenders were Morane-Saunier MS-915, Breguet Br-945 and Dassault
MD-410 Spirale.
did anybody hear about it ?.

Br 945 details are in Jean Cuny's Avions Breguet. It looks like a transport, but the text does mention the possibility of mounting 4 SS-11 missiles.

Regarding Cuny, the MS.915 was a derivative of the civil twin engined transport
MS.900/901. The forerunner to this projects was the MS.1600, although it had
a higher type number.
Other mentioned contenders were the Nord 3300 (unknown to me), the SIPA
1100, the Latécoère 820/821, the Potez TOE, the Breguet 1060, a Vulture/
Alizé derivative, and the Fouga CM 220.
Hi dears,

what was the rivals to Ouragan ?
There was no "real" rivals because at the time French aviation was a big mess.
To say the things simply, the SO-6020 Espadon was to be the first jet fighter of the AdA. But it was totally underpowered, and too ambitious. The Ouragan was a private venture, chosen because of its simplicity and robust construction.
The AdA chose the Vampire to complete the Ouragan, and the british fighter become the Mistral in french service.
Others early jet fighter are the naval fighters NC-1080, Nord 2200 and Arsenal VG-90. This program was a disaster with three crashes killing three pilots. the only survivor was the nord 2200, which was too heavy and underpowered.

PS The program that led to the Mirage III was a long haul and changed various times along the years (1952-1958). First were the light fighters, then supersonic fighters, and to the end Mach2 multirole fighters!
Only the most reactive firms managed to follow the competiton up to 1958...and that's how the Mirage III won against its last and sole oponent : the Durandal.

Hi,

For the assault transport competition, the contenders were Breguet Br.941,
Hurel-Dubois HD.332 and Nord N.2506.The HD.332 was a project and the
Nord N.2506 was fitted with Mabore II booster jets.
