SNCASO (Sud-Ouest) SO.30 derivative versions

Hi,

We know SNCASO SO.30 very well,and its variants,but I discover
two new projects,the SO.31 & SO.33 which intended to compete
Nord N-2500.
All I know about those two project is the SO.31 had estimated speed
400 km/h.
 
There was a competitor to the N.2500, later Noratlas, from SNCASO.
It was the SO.30C a derivative of the SO.30P fitted with a strengthened
floor and a rear loading ramp, built in one single example. And judging the
designation system, a SO.31 or 33 would have been based on SO.30, too.

Dear Toura, this is the SNCASO Sud-Ouest SO.33 which was SNCASO's submission to the same Armée de l'Air specification that resulted in the Bréguet Br.891R Mars and the SNCAN Nord 2501 Noratlas. It was based on the SNCASO Sud-Ouest SO.30P Bretagne, but with a high wing and a new fuselage and tail-unit; it remained a "project" and never progressed beyond wind-tunnel testing......

SNCASO did build their own rear-loading version of their Bretagne; the SNCASO Sud-Ouest SO.30C which had a rear-fuselage loading ramp concealed behind clamshell panels in the lower rear fuselage (a bit like the Bréguet Deux-Ponts). It could carry 3 jeeps or 24 paratroopers, but was constrained by the narrow rear loading ramp, the massive internal frames in the fuselage-to-wing centre section and the height of the cabin floor above the ground during loading......

I think the lesson learned is that a purpose-built military airlifter is always better than a converted airliner......

My dear Toura,

as I read in Internet,the SNCASO SO.31 was developed from SO.30 with
SO.33,and may be for the same Specification,but I tried to find that site
again,but no way.

Hello,
it's my first time in this forum. I try to show the SO 31 drawing : a project for using a modified SO 30 as jet engine testbed.
This view comes from my own archive collection.
