Boeing 367 Projects

Note that the -64 has the wing-mounted, body-stowed landing gear. A major step towards today's civil aircraft.

The legacy of the B-29 is quite awesome when you think about it. B-50, B-54, C-97, Model 367, Tu-4 / 75 / 80 / 85, the Guppies, the chinese Tu-4 AWACS with turboprops.
 
I just had the chance to read the volume American Secret Projects 2: US Airlifters 1941 to 1961 and on page 93 there is an illustration of 3 Boeing 367 designs with the same wingspan as the B-54: the Model 367-7-21, the Model 367-8-23, and the Model 367-14-25. As with the B-29/B-50, the Boeing company never spared a chance to consider modernizing the C-97/367 design with a bigger span.

I think this model was for C-97,right ?.

Has anyone ever been able to ascertain the Tu-4 AWACS with turboprop performance? B-29 related aircraft seem to have been ripe for turboprop conversions, yet they're few and far between. The KC-97J with YT-34s could do 400+ MPH with it's rather bulbous double bubble fuselage, and I'd expect much skinnier B-29 derivatives likely to be capable of 450+.
