Hi,

the Yak-60 was a big helicopter project and it a tandem rotor,it would have
used two Mi-6 rotors,each driven by a pairs of 6,500shp D-25VF engines,
its rotor diameter 35m,length 46m and weight 42 tonnes.

Hesham, in the future - one project or family of projects = one new topic. You can't believe how it's difficult then to find ways to split giant threads for readible ones.

Yakovlev Yak-60 is the possible designation of this tandem-rotor heavy-lift helicopter design of the late 1960s. This designation has been suggested based on an extant study model which has the number "60" painted prominently on its side.

General characteristics

* Crew: three
* Capacity: 42 tonnes (92,593 lb) of cargo
* Length: 46 m (150 ft 0 in)
* Wingspan: 2x 35 m (115 ft 0 in)
* Height: m (ft)
* Empty weight: 55,000 kg (120,000 lb)
* Max takeoff weight: 100,000 kg (220,000 lb)
* Powerplant: 2× 4 X D-25VF radials, 26,000shp () each

I'm concerned about the drawing posted above.

First, the tank being carried is attached at a single point on the helicopter's fuselage.
Now I'm no expert, but I would have thought that hanging a 50-60 ton weight as a
point load like that, is going to break the helicopter's back, unless it's made of unobtainium....

Second, the first point doesn't matter, because AFAIK, if you try to pick up a tank
by a hook from it's turret, all you'll do is pull the turret off...

cheers,
Robin.

Wow, that's a big booger...

A bunch of them would have a niche in relief efforts, fire-fighting and such, now that the 'skycrane' numbers are so small...

Sorry Hesham, "Yak-32" was a mistake by the site I found those two pictures from. These are actually impressions of the Yak-60, as you can see in its brochure (above post).

Some years ago I had sketch of big (Mi?) Russian helicopter with three rotors (and triangle fuselage). Do you have some info on it?
