A fourth volume has been announced in what I thought was to remain a trilogy.

The previous three volumes deal with Mirage III development and its use in French service.
The fourth volume, 'Mirage III. Tome 4 - Mirage III/5/50, en service à l’étranger' promises to deal with Mirage III service and development outside France.

new copies of Tome II and Tome III are available from the UK Aviation bookshop ar throw-away prices

picked up my copy in Paris from the famous La Livre Aviation - its a very good addition to the earlier tomes 1-III and covers the deployment and potted histories in all the European and Asian , African and Latin AM AF in around 350 Pp- the section on Pakistan comprises around 20 pages with excellent colour pics and profiles but some of the technical details and modifications are lacking and its strictly limited to service details and deployments - no mention is made of any of the skirmishes in any of the 20 odd AF in service which is a big miss - perhaps a Tome V in the making ?

Also overall the lack of technical diagrams and drawings which were there in earlier tomes is a big disappointment.

Also the quality of glazed paper is very thin from the new publisher Lela Presse - compared to the better quality of paper and typeface font in the eariier tomes published by DTU - but still worth a buy at the price

Paper quality appears equal to earlier, fatter tomes (#1 464 pages, #2 448, #3 408, #4 368). The use of sans serif typeface is different from the previous books, but personally, I find that easier on the eyes.

Operational use in #4 is dealt with in broad strokes, not the highly detailed treatment from the first three books - that would have made for one very fat book. What is provided: Mirage III/5/50 development outside France, with #4 giving a very satisfying overall view of how some of these developments were related.
