There was also a proposed C-5 Galaxy zwiling airliner

I thought the twin C-5 was proposed as an Space Suttle carrier and the C-5 Model 500 was a civil cargo C-5. But I knew nothing about C-5 airliner versions. Anybody can give confirmation?
 
According to Science&Vie Aviation 2005 (june 2005) it was the Lockheed L-500 for 660 passengers or more. Market studies predicted 200 aircrafts over ten years, 400 from 1980.
Don't know more...!!! They also mentionned a big douglas, the D-950 D-952 ranging from 403 to 500 seats.
These are the A380 ancestors... Drawings are welcome!!!

Hi,

the Lockheed L-1449 was a redesigned version of Super Constellation but
had a block speed 70 mph faster than any aircraft of 1955.,it had
a new thin wing and powered by four P&W PT2 turboprops,many
other alternative engines was available.

Hi,

The Lockheed GL-207 was aproject developed from Super Hercules and
had a swept wing and powered by two JT3D-11 turbofans.

The 1954 Lockheed design is very much the same as the CL321 submission for the KCX design competition that was won by Boeing with the KC-135/

Yes! Lockheed design has engines over the wing. I think sonic boom from main wing leading edge and from tail wing leading edge interfere and reduce sonic boom. Engine location of SAI's QSBJ is little strange. Engine nacelles under the wing generate larger sonic boom.

What a coincidence - I just wanted to ask about this design! The very same picture was published in Czech L+K magazine #19/1980 (so, the study is earlier than 1986 :) ). The text was approximately such:

"Lockheed company searches for optimal solution of high-performance and effective new generation transport aircraft. It's assumed that newest technologies with maximum application of composite materials together with progressive tendencies in design will lead to unusial layouts of future aircrafts. One example is a study of an aircraft with three fuselages, carrying payload in three cargo bays. The aircraft with 675 000 kg takeoff weight would carry 199 800 kg payload. 50 % of it would be carried in the center fuselage, and 25 % in each side fuselage".

Maybe somebody has more info about this project? Had it any designation?
