Hi,

The new ultra-light aircraft has very strange shapes,The Aeronix Airelle is twin
engined in push-pull configuration powered by two 40 hp Hirth F23ES engines,
and has a maximum speed 290 km/h,also The Aerotec DEKO-15 is a project
of twin boom high wing two seat monoplane powered by two 80 hp (two engines
in one),and has a estimated speed of 300 km/h.

The Aerotec DEKO-17 project also power by two 100 hp driving one propeller,
it has an estimate speed of 320 km/h.And the DEKO-17AT alittle different.

Both DEKO-15 and -17 seem to have a single engine, seen from outside. It is surprising to have 2 engines in a so small engine-pod, but if your sources say it, this is probably true.

The City Hawk would be just a more modern revival of the good old
Piasecki Airjeep. Looks starwars like, but I'm afraid no commercial
success either .

Actually the CityHawk is now being worked by Bell Helicopter as the "X Hawk" in conjunction with the originator from Israel. In their documentation both organizations point to the Piasecki work as being where they started from. However I do not think that you could classify it as an Ultralight effort, as it is being designed to carry up to 10 people...and other things.

Attached is a picture of the fullscale mockup that was introduced at Farnbourough this last year.

Careful with the designation "ultralight" ! In the US, according to FAR 103,
that means, empty weight of no more than 115 kg and a top speed of no more
than 55 kts, although exeptions can be made for two seaters, seaplanes and
so on. But aircraft like the AMV-211, Xantus or City Hawk not even fit into the
european definition of an ULM, which allows up to 450kg MTOW for a two seat
aircraft.

Hi,

The new two-man ultralight Fanwing aircraft is studied at London's
Imperial College,very strang project,that the Fanwing uses a bladed
rotor turning on a horizontal axis which acts as a thick wing,the blades
suck in air and push it up and over the wing,providing lift.

That's the idea of the Flettner rotor wing, which uses the Magnus effect
and was tested in an aircraft in the '30s.

The Atlantica is a dead end design with serious design flaws. The last I heard, they were looking at adding twin booms and a connected tail (P-38, OV-10, inverted A?) to make it "workable." That's if the project isn't completely dead by now.

One of the strangest but still prototyped ultralight / glider / experimental very light aircraft series in my view have been the certain Swiss canard ones.

-Colibri

-Canard 2 FL
Foot-launched rigid canard glider (IIRC the yellow prototype pictured killed the designer as weight shift pitch control made it impossible to recover from too steep dive when the pilot slid to the front)
That thing really is very light and foot-launched, you stand through "bomb doors" at the bottom of the fuselage and then lift your legs up and back to be in a prone position.

-Canard SCM

High glide ratio gliders tend to look all the same - foot launched ones are swept flying wings and towed ones are conventional configurations. Hence a totally different one stood out.

Indeed ! You should point the company officials to that fact and propose to produce a single-seat
variant with a more appropriate nose. As there are a lot 2/3 scale Mustangs, Spitfires, Me 109 and
the like around, this could really increase the number of sales. But don't forget to secure your stakes !

So much so that I believed it to be a hoax at first.

IKEA did a fake campaign for a car three years ago in France... A countdown to the unveiling of a new model, only to find on d-day that, well... no, IKEA was not offering a kit-built or ecological car type, it was only a marketing trick to say, basically: "We can only promise what we can deliver... You like us for furniture, so let's keep doing what we do best...". Not that I really fell for it, but many people were eagerly anticipating it!

Don't know, if it really is a project for a light aircraft (looks more like a design study), but
the fuel load of 360 litres (maximum 450 litres !) already should rule out the classification
as an ULA, I think.
