Aeronautical Company,I think it was difficult,but I
saw a catalogue for Midland library a secondhand book
about the Ryan Aeronautical aircraft,
and I know that the Model-59 was jet trainer project
but no more details.

the Ryan Model-124,136,147,154,166,234,235,251,255,259 and
262 were RPV and the Model-324,350 and 410 were UAV.

Very interesting! Didn't know about that one... Came even before the Flex-Wing, Fleep, Flex Flyer and Flex-Bee programs!
 
Hi,

the Type-272 and Type-1241 were RPV,and the 1241 was developed from
124,and the Types 365,372,440/555 and 471 were engines.

1241 is most likely a typo for 124I.
 
Yes, Andreas, you're right! I remember that 124I DOES exist, and 1241 didn't seem too logical in the Ryan system. So it most definitely was a typo. As for Model 272, I'm still waiting for some confirmation, as there is a Model 262 and a Model 275 and it could also be a typo...

Yes my dear Stargazer2006,

you are right I will fix it,and by the way those engines were pistons or turboprops
developed with Continental company,as O-200,IO-240,IOL-300,O-360,O-470,
IO-520 and IO-555.

Excellent! Where did you find these? I've got Wagner's book on drones but these are not even in it!!
 
Model 84 preliminary VTO Light Day Fighter design deriving from a broad study of a number of different configurations.
Model 84F-7, a turbofan version of 84
Model 112 VTO high altitude visual fighter proposal for Navy derived from Model 84
Model 115 and Model 115C redesigns of the Model 112 to meet new Air Force requirements for a Dispersed Site Fighter-Bomber.

All used various versions of the General Electric engines (J-79 and others with afterburning (A/B)) then under development. Models 84 (and 84F-7) and 115 were generated under Air Force contract; Ryan used their own funds for the 112 and 115C design work.

Browsing through old Ryan company publications, it becomes clear that the Model 29 (XF2R-1) and Model 30 (XF2R-2) were originally simply called FIREBALL by Ryan. When the words "dark shark" were mentioned they were affixed to it as follows: "DARK SHARK FIREBALL," not on their own. It's only in 1947 that the name seems to have been "adopted" by Ryan themselves.

On a slightly different — though related — note, here's the Ryan TR-1. Never heard of it? Well, here's what Ryan writer and later historian Bill Wagner wrote about it in 1946 news releases for the company:

WORKERS COMPLETE EXACT MODEL OF RYAN FIREBALL JET FIGHTER FOR SAN DIEGO ROSE PARADE FLOAT

The half-scale model of the Ryan jet-pushed, propeller-pulled Fireball fighter, which will surmount San Diego' s float in the Tournament of Roses Parade, attracted so much attention at the aircraft plant that five pretty Ryan secretaries, without too much urging, found themselves in front of the camera in various poses when the photographer showed up to take pictures before the wooden model was shipped off to Pasadena.

It took just a mite of a "glamor girl," 5-year old Suzanne Reamo, to christen the half-scale model of the Ryan Fireball jet-pushed, propeller-pulled Navy fighter which, covered with flowers, will be the center of attraction of San Diego's float in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day.

On hand to represent the Navy at the christening was Lieut. Comdr. R. O. Deitzer, Bureau of Aeronautics Representative at the Ryan Aeronautical Company plant. Ryan workers who built the float have dubbed the half-scale model of the Navy FR-1 fighter, the "TR-I" for "Tournament of Roses, Model 1." Construction of the model was completed this week and it is now in Pasadena where the balance of the float is being built.

Built so that it will turn and dip, the Fireball model plane will be mounted above and behind the sloping bed of red, white and blue flowers forming a Stars and Stripes pattern in front of which will ride aviation heroes of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The flower-covered propeller will turn, and from the tail will come the tell-tale smoke of the parent
Fireball's jet engine.

Named "Winged Victory" the float is sponsored jointly by San Diego City and County, the San Diego-California Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. It is expected that most of the flowers for the float will be obtained from florists and nurserymen in the Carlsbad-Encinitas area.

This flower-bedecked Ryan Fireball Navy fighter, with jet exhaust streaming from its tail, propeller spinning, and the entire plane gracefully dipping and turning, was the official entry of San Diego City and County in Pasadena's famous New Year's Lay Tournament of Roses Parade, capturing second prize in Class A.

Under regulations governing the Rose Parade every portion of the float which can be seen by spectators must be completely covered with flowers. The half-scale Fireball model was built by the mock-up section of Ryan's experimental department. The night before the parade it was mounted onto the lower section of the float, built in Pasadena; then completely covered with chrysanthemum buds laid over hot glue. The insignia design, propeller tips and other details were worked out in blue delphinium.

26 was a gull-wing dive bomber/attack aircraft for US Navy

27 was preliminary interceptor fighter projects of 1942,27A was for US Navy and
27B & 27C were for USAAF.
