That design perplexes me? What the are large bulges at the wing roots? Conformal fuel tanks?

The P.92 almost looks like a design that started out with wing root mounted engines, much like the Fouga Magister?

The aft podded engines remind me of the Spanish HA-500 proposal.

I have a copy of the book French Secret Projects 2 and specifications for the Potez P.92 are listed on page 98 of this book as follows:

Length: 46 ft 7 in (14.20 m)
Powerplant: two Tourmalet, SNECMA M45 or RB.172-45 turbojets
Speed: Mach 0.92 to 0.97
Armament: one AS37 missile
 
That engine installation reminds us of the Boeing Skyfox proposal to re-engine old Lockheed T-33 trainers with a pair of externally-mounted Garret TFE-731 turbofans. Only a single Skyfox prototype was built. It flew a few times but sits idle and engine-less in Medford, Oregon.
 
I never liked Skyfox because it was a kludge. But you are right, somewhat similar.

I'm surprised there wasn't a single engine version with twin tails or an H-tail like on the A-10. Even dorsal mounted there would be easy access to the engine.
