Airbus A20.30 internal arrangement. I have it from PDF from one german university or research institute, but currently I cant find it.

And its predcessor Airbus VELA (Very Large Aircraft)

As soon as 2030, we might be flying in a new, more efficient aircraft with long, curled wings, a U-shaped tail, and a lightweight body — if manufacturer Airbus develops the “fantasy plane” it unveiled today at the Farnborough Airshow in the UK. The concept aircraft is more fuel efficient, boasts advanced interior systems, and, best of all, it’s quieter.

Bit more interesting than endless tweaking of the A300.

Cheers, Woody

From the remains of some old topics:

[quote author=pometablava]From Spanish science magazine Conocer (1992 I think). It could be a translation from French Magazine Science et vie

1. Airbus flying wing from 1987. This design was compared against the A310 but it seems that no advantages were found because all Airbus airliners share the same configuration. Personally, I find this design extremely beautiful.
A couple of Lockheed spanloader cargo designs on the background.
I have found the grandfather of the project
Stuck on the drawing board. Richard Payne. Tempus. ISBN 0 7524 3172 2
This book is really cool!

2. Airbus early 380 configuration.

I have read this article in 1992, in Serbocroatian translation, I'll try to dig up the larger picture. There were 5 different subsonic designs presented, including one variant of the flying wing

And here they are, these are from an online archive of the now defunct Galaksija popular science magazine.

1. Super airbus transporter, twice the cargo capacity of Super Guppy
2. derived from airbus a 310
3. Lockheed design, four 25 ton thrust engines, range:4200 nautical miles, speed: mach 0,6
4. eight 24 ton thrust engines, range:2500 nautical miles, speed: mach 0,8
5. six 24 ton thrust engines, range:4100 nautical miles, speed: mach 0,75

Anyone ever come across a four- or three-engined A320 (or 318, 319, 321) proposal?

I've come across a mention of these in a 1983 BAe brochure on the VC10.

Thanks

Chrs

Careful, please !
I cannot see any clue, that this is an Airbus design, but there's a prominent question mark !
The picture shows a quite simple CGI and the cockpit section and tail shape reminds me
much more to the BAC 1-11, than to an Airbus design.
The presentation stems from the "Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg",
a university in Hamburg and comes to the conclusion, that the BWB is the best solution for
a future transport/airliner. No direct relation to Airbus, or another aircraft manufacturer is
mentioned, so to my opinion, that picture is just an illustration of alternatives to current designs.

OK my dear Jemiba,

but as you know,Airbus had many twin fuselage projects.

From Krila 1/1993,

with more Info.

Hi,

here's an Airbus NLR mega twin project from 2012. It was planned to be 85 meters long, have a wingspan the same size as the A380 at 80 meters, and carry at least 470 passengers or around the same as the 747-8I.

Is this aircraft in any way related to or influenced by the Airbus A350?

It probably is.
I was working on A350 wing concept stuff (before it was XWB) in 2007, so there is some time for the design language to influence this. I note that there is no belly fairing on that design, and that is quite important for all the things it covers.
You know, I actually saw this design had no belly fairing too, unlike most other designs which do have belly fairing.

It could be that this was just a preliminary computer drawing to see the layout of the type. The belly fairing would've probably been added later, as the concept matured further.

Passenger aircraft designs hydrogen-powered

The idea of this type of drive is not entirely new, they are already working on it
Americans, but none of their programs advanced beyond the design stage (passenger planes). This is also not unknown to the Russians, who in 1988 experimentally installed hydrogen-powered engines on one of the Tu-155.

However, the most interesting project is the one developed by engineers from the MBB concern. Work on it is taken so seriously that MBB is looking for partners to develop it. When it comes to power units, they will definitely be MTU. Talks are also ongoing with hydrogen producers, as this may be used in practice
type of fuel, large quantities will be needed. The case also concerns problems related to the transport and storage of hydrogen as a dangerous substance.

It will probably be adapted to run on hydrogen fuel.
a famous Fokker F-100 plane or one of the Airbus planes. There was also a very interesting and unusual design of a long-haul, twin-hull Airbus A-640-H2 aircraft, in which a huge hydrogen tank was installed separately between two fuselages derived from the A-330 aircraft, capable of accommodating approximately 800 passengers. The whole thing is to be connected by a panel from A-340.

It is planned to use as many as six SNECMA CFM 57H engines, developed in cooperation with the American contractor General Electric and the French SEP, which already has experience in building hydrogen-powered engines (Ariane rockets).

Whether such an unusual project will be implemented and mass produced is, for now, a great unknown.
