Dietrich Aircraft Designations

Richard Dietrich Flugzeugbau GmbH - 1922, Mannheim

Dietrich-Gobiet Flugzeugbau AG (DGF) - 1923, Kassel
-- Merger with Anatole Gobiet's Belgian engineering firm

Dietrich Flugzeugwerke AG - 1927 Teltow (Berlin)
-- Solo project w/o Gobiet, Raab, Katzenstein, or Hall

On Dietrich designations: I have seen 'DP' defined as 'Dietrich Passagier' but have no way of confirming this. Then there is the single 'DS' designation ... perhaps for 'Dietrich Schule'? 'Dietrich Sport'? Who knows?

Maybe it would be appropriate to ask here; does anyone know if there exist three views of the Dietrich Gobiet VIIa, IX and DS.I? Besides a few pictures floating around on the interent and some specifications I did not manage to find anything? Many thanks in advance!

This item from L'Auto Italiana of 10 March 1924 supposedly depicts a "Dietrich D.P.U." As there was no such designation, I was tempted to think that the "U" was in error for "V", therefore "D.P.V" Unfortunately, the D.P.V used a Mercedes, not Siemens Halske engine... What type is it, then?

L'Auto Italiana seems to have mistaken the Roman numeral 'II' for a 'U'. Their 'Dietrich D.P.U.' is a dead ringer for the prototype DP II Bussard (which lacked interplane struts).

I have the DP II listed with 63 hp Siemens Sh 4 radial - but that 5-cylinder engine originally produced 55 PS.

Thanks! I had a feeling it could be the D.P.II but needed some expert advice on the subject. ;)
