From the early 1930s to the end of the 1950s, the N.A.C.A. and its successor the N.A.S.A. used a system of Model numbers refering mostly to scale test models. Here is an incomplete list but it's the best I can come up with so far after hours of research. For each model an approximate date is given and one or several links are provided to indicate where the information came from.

Please feel free to update if you know more!

It looks to me like each wind tunnel has its own model sequence.

I thought so at some point, but I found nothing to support that notion. Although most documented numbers refer to the Langley Tank tests (Tanks #1 and #2), other documents simply refer to the models as "NACA models".

Two more NACA models from this very forum: 248 and 280.

Still in the business of sorting out the various numbering systems used by NACA/NASA for its scale models.

While the system I presented earlier in this thread seems to apply to ALL tank facilities (and therefore includes mostly floatplabnes and flying boats), SOME other numbering systems existed for SOME facilities, but perhaps not all of them.

I've starting cleaning up some documents and will share them in this thread. Here is a series of aircraft which were tested by NACA in model form during the year 1940. Soon I will upload 1939, which is A LOT more interesting.
