Pashinin S-82 mixed propulsion attack aircraft

the Pashinin S-82 was two-seat multi-role attack aircraft with
long range and mixed propulsion,it was low-wing monoplane,the
powerful piston engine mounted in nose and a turbojet in rear
fuselage with wing-root inlets,the prototype was constructed
in 1947,but abandoned in 1948.

First of all, this project was seen as a fighter escorts for bombers Tu-4.
"Planned flight to the target at a front engine and in a combat situation with the work of both engines increased the speed and rate of climb. Dimensions of aircraft: 21,2 m span, length 18.0 m, wing area 61.5 sq.m. The estimated mass of empty about 9 tons, fuel oil and 4400 kg and 300 kg with an overload, the full load of six tons, takeoff weight of 15 tons all-metal construction. "

Yes of course, this is famous Pavel Sukhoi and nobody else. There could be different transliterations of his surname - you can find "Sukhoi", "Sukhoj" or "Sukhoy".

The Sukhoi project was big enough, but nevertheless its size is still in "fighter" limits. But Pashinin S-82... isn't it enormously big for a fighter, especially for Soviet one?

I like the looks of the Su escort. As for size for a fighter, it compares well to Boeing's XF8B-1 late WWII prototype, which I've read was quite suitable as a fighter. The Su reminds me of a Reno air racer. It's got that 'sleekness' to it.
